Science-Based Tree Care, Objective Recommendations, and Long-Term Tree Preservation
Owning trees is one of the greatest investments a property owner can make. Mature trees provide shade, beauty, wildlife habitat, stormwater benefits, privacy, and long-term property value. Yet many homeowners don’t think about their trees until something goes wrong—a large branch falls after a storm, a tree begins to decline, construction threatens the root system, or someone recommends removing a tree that has been part of the property for decades.
At Davis Family Arbor Services, we believe property owners deserve more than quick opinions or one-size-fits-all recommendations. They deserve objective information, careful evaluation, and recommendations based on the condition of the tree, the site, and the owner’s management goals. That’s why we created the Davis Family Arbor Services Knowledge Center.
Our goal is simple: to provide reliable, science-based information that helps homeowners, businesses, municipalities, HOAs, developers, attorneys, and property managers make informed decisions about their trees.
Our Philosophy: Preservation Before Removal
One of the biggest misconceptions in our industry is that every problem tree should be removed. While removal is sometimes the most appropriate recommendation, it should never be the automatic one.
Every tree we evaluate is approached with the same question:
Can this tree be safely preserved while meeting the owner’s objectives?
Sometimes the answer is yes. Proper pruning, soil improvement, supplemental support systems, root-zone management, construction protection, or long-term monitoring may significantly improve a tree’s condition or reduce risk.
Other times, removal truly is the most appropriate management decision because the tree’s condition, location, or structural defects cannot be reasonably managed.
Our responsibility is not to sell a particular service. It is to recommend the management option that best fits the tree, the site, and the client’s objectives.

Why Credentials Matter
Tree care is a specialized profession that combines biology, physics, soil science, pathology, entomology, and risk management. Important decisions about mature trees deserve informed evaluation.
Davis Family Arbor Services is led by Brad Davis, an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist® (MW-6328B), ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ) professional, and ISA Florida Chapter Prescription Pruning Qualified (PPQ) arborist. Those credentials represent years of education, experience, continuing professional development, and demonstrated knowledge in modern arboriculture.
While credentials alone don’t guarantee good judgment, they do reflect a commitment to following recognized industry standards and continually improving professional knowledge. Our recommendations are guided by accepted arboricultural practices and tailored to the unique circumstances of each property.
Our Commitment to Objective Recommendations
One of the principles that guides every project is simple:
Our recommendations are based on the condition of the tree—not on selling a particular service.
That means you may occasionally hear us recommend monitoring instead of removal, pruning instead of cabling, or preservation instead of replacement. In other situations, we’ll explain why removal is the most appropriate option and document the reasons behind that recommendation.
Every property is different. Every tree is different. Every recommendation should reflect those differences.
We Want This Resource to Be Useful
Whether you’re caring for a single shade tree in your front yard or managing hundreds of trees across a commercial property, we hope these articles help you better understand your trees and the decisions that affect them.
